Start Where You Are: The Power of Imperfect Beginnings

Start Where You Are: The Power of Imperfect Beginnings

By Ruth – Founder of Ruva Skincare, glow-up girl in progress

There’s an idea we carry—quietly, almost subconsciously—that we have to wait for the perfect moment before we begin.

Perfect mindset. Perfect morning routine. Perfect confidence. Perfect bank balance.

After 3 years of RUVA and the journey here’s the truth I’ve had to learn, unlearn, and learn again: perfection is a moving target—and waiting for it can cost you everything. It keeps you stuck.

My name’s Ruth, the founder of RUVA skincare currently juggling a full-time 9–5, nurturing a dream , and doing my absolute best not to burn out (again). I started the Glow Up Diaries—to create space for the real kind of glow-up. The messy kind. The honest kind. The kind that begins not with perfection, but with permission.

Permission to start scared.

To start small, and not be afraid to share the journey.

To start without all the answers.

I used to think I had to have it all figured out before I could really go for it. But guess what? That moment never came, especially whilst doing years doing humanitarian work.

Instead, I started where I was—tired, unsure, and not even close to ready. That was in the middle of Ethiopia during a visit to a refugee camp in the west and cholera responses in the east.

And that, changed everything. Slowly but surely RUVA is real. That version of me was enough to take the first step.

And the version of you that’s still figuring it out? She’s already worthy of showing up for her dreams.

So if you’ve been waiting—this is your sign.

Your gentle yet firm push.

Start now. Start here. Start with you.

The glow-up doesn’t wait for perfect.

And neither should you.
